🖍️ Tools For Success
- Paper (Our Free How To Draw Template PDF)
- Pencil
- Polymer Eraser
- Outline Markers
- Coloring Tools (I recommend Crayola’s 140 Piece Coloring Case)
🎨 Parents: The only tools you need to use these how-to-draw tutorials are: an eraser, a pencil, and a piece of paper. But – if you have them around – a sketching pencil makes for fainter and softer lines that help kids build fine motor accuracy. I also recommend going over the sketch pencil with a black outline marker when you’re done for a neater finish. Lastly, erase the pencil marks before adding color.
How To Draw Cute Dinosaurs Step By Step
Brachiosaurs (dino with the super long neck) is also one of the largest land animals to have ever lived. They lived 145 million years ago and is currently the longest dinosaur discovered in an almost complete fossil skeleton. This 40-foot-tall giant dino had to eat hundreds of pounds of green leaves every day and weighed almost 100,000 pounds. Their popularity is everywhere – have you ever eaten a Dino Nugget (aka nature’s most delicious finger food!) – well one of their famous dino shapes is a Brachiosaurus. Follow along step by step so we can bring this little guy alive on paper!
- Draw the outline of a Brachiosaurus: starting with the head, neck, and back. Draw the top of Brachiosaurus’ back with one stroke. (If you have dino nuggets around, you can cheat by tracing the outline of a Brachiosaurus nugget.)
- A Brachiosaurus’ back looks sort of like a slide but with short legs on the bottom side of its body. Let’s start with the top of the head and the neck like you’re drawing a slide. The slide continues while you create a little semi-circle curve of the back and extends even further to the tail.
- When you’re done, move back to the head. Finish the lower part of the head with a mini-half football shape face and a straight line slanted downwards parallel to the first neckline.
- Next, using the same line as the head and neck make that line go straight-line down to create the dinosaur’s chest and legs (the lower half of its body.)
- Draw 2 cute little legs (profile side) that looks like 2 tall rectangles spaced apart from each other.
- Both legs with little toes that extend out slightly so draw a little extension as you close up the rectangular legs.
- Draw 2 more legs in the back (mostly hidden by the front 2.)
- Give the Brachiosaurus an eye and some back markings (sort of like tiger stripes but shorter and rounder.)
- Now duplicate the markings with equal space in between all along the back until you hit the end of its tail.
- There we have it! Our long-necked dino pal, you can take creative reign here – give our dino a smile…or glasses or a leaf!
By the way, no one knows for sure what color brachiosauruses are! Because of their vegetarian nature, I see them more green…although in reality, it’s probably a shade of brown; some paleontologists argue dinosaurs can be a variety of colors…pink, yellow, red, red with yellow spots, blue with yellow spots, or even purple…! We just don’t know, unfortunately!
Brachiosaurus
Nodosaurus
Since we have a dino section and Brachiosaurus are far from the only dinos that’s existed let’s draw other common kinds of dino pals!
Iguanodon
LET’S GET CREATIVE!
Dinosaurs come in a huge variety of sizes, shapes, looks, and colors. That means creativity wins, there are no fast limits to dino doodling.
